When a student receives financial aid, either through a scholarship, FAFSA, or federal student loan, there is a chance that the amount they receive will exceed the amount needed to attend their chosen school. If you fall into this boat, there is the opportunity to receive that money back as a refund.
At Everglades University, we have partnered with Heartland ECSI so all students can access their RefundSelect program. This program gives you a variety of options as to how you would like your refund sent to you. Below are your options, and what each means in regards to how it works, what you need, and when you can expect your refund.
Refund Method: Direct Deposit into Existing Account
How it works: The refund amount is electronically deposited into an existing checking or savings account of your choosing.
What you need: You will need an existing bank routing number and account number for this option.
Refund expectation: Once approved, the funds will be released and in your account within 1-2 days.
Refund Method: Open a Discover Cashback Checking Account
How it works: If this option is chosen, the student must open a new checking account through Discover Bank. Once this is done, the student will receive a debit card with the funds already loaded onto the card and ready to be used.
What you need: You will need all of the information to apply for the card. A representative will get back to you within 48 hours if approved or not approved.
Refund expectation: Once approved, the funds will be available in 1-2 days.
Refund Method: Paper Check
How it works: If a student chooses this option, a check will be issued from RefundSelect and mailed via U.S. mail to the address provided.
What you need: This one is simple: all you need is your address and to choose this option in the portal.
Refund expectation: Once approved, you should expect the funds in the main in 5-7 days.
